0.99(new version) - 0.98(previous version) = 0.01 .. doesn't do any justice.
As in the case of previous releases, this new release addresses couple of subjects. The importance of the fact that we are getting closer to version 1.0 has the main influence on those objectives. That is, providing the best support for iPod and other portable media players, making Ziepod better solution for simple news aggregation, and making it more robost and configurable.
New versions of Ziepod and Ziepod+ share same improvements.
Ziepod & Portable Media Players (PMPs)
Till now, we provided necessary features to help you transfer podcast
episodes to your MP3 player. However, it was not a good solution for iPod users. Now, you can use Ziepod to feed your iPod podcasts. You can add, delete, and even edit playlists and podcast episodes without touching iTunes. You can manage your playlists like managing your subscriptions.
Regarding PMPs, do you have any complaint about meaningless titles on your PMP screen? Not all podcasts come with proper tags. Instead of reasonable title, you may see numbers or random characters on your iPod screen. Ziepod can cure this situration, thanks to its ability to overwrite those tags with proper user-defined values so that you can idenfity them in your PMP
In other words, you can use Ziepod to edit ID3 tags of MP3 files manually or you can let Ziepod do that for you.
Getting Better for Easy News Aggregation
Most of our users use Ziepod not only to reach podcasts but also for news aggregation purposes. Hence, starting with the previous version, we decided to provide more necessary tools and make the backend more powerful so that it can handle more content at the same time.
In this new version, we packed Ziepod with 'Post Sweeper' which helps
you filter out unwanted posts at once. Sweeper works on filters that you will set. For example, you can delete posts older than 2 days at once.
More Robust and More Configurable
Thanks to many feedbacks from our dedicated users, we squashed lots of bugs. In fact, we felt sorry after all as we never intended to let Ziepod out with those bugs since our last release. Hence at this time we paid great attention to buggy cases and removal of those annoying ones, especially the ones that caused crashes.
Besides those squashed bugs, we also included more customization and automation related settings, or what we called them 'Selective Automation.' That is, you can make Ziepod apply certain commands on certain types of episodes, such as actions to be applied only on MP3 files or TORRENT files.
Speaking of torrent, new Ziepod also supports bittorrent concept. You can automatically or manually direct torrent files to installed torrent client on your computer.
What we are telling so far is hardly the whole package. There are couple of more neat features, and lots of tiny ones. Such as,
now you will be able to monitor downloads much better than ever thanks to shown progress bar and remaining time for each download.
And you can hide synchronizations or paused or queued downloads inside 'Tasks' tab.
Maybe more innovative than all, you can even monitor OPML files, or
so-called dynamic OPMLs. Ziepod can notify and show you new feeds in those OPMLs as soon as they are updated.
The sooner, the better. Apart from all new and updated parts, we also gave a very tough decision with the new version of Ziepod+. Staring with v0.99, Ziepod+ no longer supports 'Yahoo Video Search Extraction' feature. Instead, we will make it available as a free stand-alone application in near future. There were couple of points on the table to come to this conclusion. Should admit, it was very hard.
Nevertheless, we will provide Ziepod+ packed with that excluded feature to all our users who already purchased Ziepod+.
